Upgrading a J fare?

Upgrading a J fare?
According to the FAQ here, a J-fare (deep discounted business) is not upgradable...
however, is it upgradable for Cash day-of-departure (before boarding, or 'upgrade on board'?) ? (my fiancee and I are doing JFK-TLV in a few weeks...)

paying for F the extra cash on elal, doesnt seem worth it.
