Connections from Eilat

Hi

My sister and family are flying ETH-TLV-LHR next week, all on LY. Will they be able to check luggage through from ETH all the way to LHR? Will they get their onward boarding passes and clear check-in security at ETH?

Thanks

you can get your boarding passes and check your luggage all the way.
When you get to TLV you need to take a shuttle to Terminal 3 and then clear security again and passport control

A quick update on this - the response above was not entirely accurate. I was hoping to meet my sister and family in the landside part of terminal 3, after they got off shuttle bus. But apparently El Al read out the names of transfer pax on the Eilat - Tel Aviv flight ,and asked them to stay on plane. They were then taken by a special bus direct to the transit area and passed a special passport control - there was no handbaggage security in TLV, and no way to get to landside.
So a wasted trip to the aiport...

Approx 3.5 hours - so plenty of time for landside connection!

I was quite surprised also.

Surely had they chosen to, they could have gone landside after arrival from ETH?

No - there was an announcement on the plane that all connecting passengers had to stay on board, and their names were checked off on a list. And they were also not told what was happening exactly.

Anyway, I think they would have had problems at security (going airside), as the labels on their passports would not match the barcodes given in TLV (as they did not pass security there).

It is actually an excellent service for most connecting passengers - especially as the airport was heaving that day (end of UK half term).
