Normal loads for JFK-TLV

Hi -

I am going to be making Alyiah, and want to Fly on LY02 (the 6:20 dept out of JFK) on March 1st

Due to some logistical problems i won't be able to book the flight until ~Feb 16th.

Will i have trouble getting 4 tickets? What about seats, will it be easy to get a whole row in the center for the 4 of us?

Welcome to Israel (soon).
If you already know the date, you can call El Al and reserve the flight (and the seats) without ticketing. That way you can guarantee your place on the flight.
Depending on the bucket you use, you'll probably be able to pay around February 16th.

My flight is going to be booked via the Jewish Agency/NBN and Gil Travel, so not sure how that would work.

UPDATED: I called El Al and was told that I needed to pay for the ticket at the time of booking.

Try booking through a Travel Agent. I make my reservation and get my seats 11 months before I fly. I then pay when it gets closer ( or it seems the price is going up) At anytime I am holding multiple reservations for multiple trips!

The OP is making Aliyah - probably ticket on special terms - one way at a lower cost than normal with extra luggage allowance. These tickets can only be purchased direct from LY.

Hi BosBjg,

An acquanintance of mine made aliya last year through NBN. In their case NBN received a block of seats on the EWR flight but I beleive the process will be similar.
- They could not reserve seats prior to check-in since they were officialy ticketed at the NBN counter the same morning.
- The flight was full but they were seated close to each other (Isle + middle in one row, middle the next row for a family of 3 on a 3x3x3 777).
- They made it to TLV.

Good luck

BosBjg, I don't know what family connections you have in Israel, but if you are interested in visiting a kibbutz in the Galilee, send me a PM when you get here.
