TLV to start an experiment with biometric "security screening"

You'll register, and instead of being asked by a real person whether you are going to blow up the plane accidentally, a computer will ask you that. You will need to prove your identity to the computer using biometric mechanisms, and a special card. Pilot to begin with LY's matmid members (I would guess those with status). So... did any of you got invited? |
I got the email about it. It doesn't seem to be targeted to specific Matmid members. It just says to go to register at the counters when arriving for the next trip.

I'm very confused, will that mean no more being questioned by an agent? isn't the whole idea that the agent picks up if you are nervous Etc? how will this work with the machine?
Have they actually decided to lax security in such times? |
Seems a smart plan to me. They can weed out those they need to talk to each time and those that are "safe" and a waste of resources to ask the questions too each time. Its not LAX security, it is better resource allocation.

According to Ynet 250 people have already registered for the service, and none have reported to us!
Come on lads, someone please have some mercy. I wonder if i could just stop at the airport on the way home from work and register. They may find that suspicious. :) |

in the worse case you can write in the forum on "cavity check experience, Natbag x/01/10" 8-) |
If no one's there earlier, my next flight is in a week and I'll be happy to report.
|
I registered by chance. I was very late to my LY Y flight and went to the business live to save time and they pulled me over to register, promised me 2 mins registration and 2 mins going through the system. I rarely fly LY.
Regiatration is fast, take PP details, take picture and fingerprint. Get magnetic card with ur name on it, the actual security process is not coherent, u go from station to station put ur card and do things like identify urself, answer questions, swab ur luggage. At the end they manually handed me a luggage security tag so I do not know how it would be in reality. At check in there is a small machine to prove via the card that u went through security (not sticker on PP) I had the guy who registered it with me show me step by steped but it was rushed and did not work perfectly.... I am not clear if I can use this system if going to other airlines, I assume u can if u do not have to actually check in (OLCI) as they dont have the security verification system yet... |
