Please ask if the card can be used when flying foreign airlines out of TLV and let us know.

Yes it is, The pilot is for EL-AL FF, but the units were deployed across the whole airport...

Is it only for Israelis or can "tourists" also get a card?

ebzed Jan 10, 2010 5:53 am

Tourists as well... but i assume there is some criteria for that...

if you are a PL or TPL you can hold a foreign passport. Was on the 001 last night and tried to register but they were "out of plastic cards" according to the Unipass representitive. He suggested I come back tomorrow. Shows the level of training and understanding of the product and company IMHO. Will try again next week.

Hopefully when they open it up to non-LY FFs that won't be the case.

I had the same problem on Sunday lunchtime. They said they had a greater than expected demand. Though all the stations were manned..(or womanned).

I was told that it could only be used on LY flights though.

A quick update

Good morning boys and girls,

Here's today's update:

No.
At the moment, only on LY flights. This is because, as I understand, only the LY check-in desks have the Unipass machines to verify you actually passed security.
By the way, after passing Unipass I did get the usual sticker on my passport, so maybe the official version is you can't use it on other airlines, but unofficially you can. Who knows.

Good question. No one asked to see my ticket, but maybe while scanning my passport they saw my reservation.

Is it only the email's which are being sent to those who fly a lot, but whoever wants can actually try it, or only these passengers being invited, can try it?

Currently registration is open to LY's GL/PL (okay, ebzed, TPL as well) or those flying C/F. Again, no one asked to see my ticket. They did ask to see my GL card, but it wasn't on me so my guess is that they'll take your word if you tell them you are.

By the way, for those who miss the registration desk before security, I just saw there's an additional desk in the gallery level at KDL. Currently it isn't operational, but it's early Friday morning. Maybe it's open some other time of the day / week.

This is JZ, reporting live from KDL.

"Bug" in the system workflow, The sticker is no longer in use, You have Unipass on the checking, You have Unipass at the checkpoint (between the
"free" zone ("Mall") and the security screening area (Just before the passport)), There is also one on the KDL which is needed if they issue
you a new boarding pass, They need to verify you have passed security.
(Although the odds are 0 to be there holding a ticket and not passing security!...)

If you are willing to fly instead of me and do my work, I am willing to give my
TPL any moment... I am doing so for 15 years, I am fed up! (And no, I dont like to fly...)

Yeah, I was surprised as well. But I asked, and they said they will continue putting the stickers, at least for the time being. Maybe the girl there wasn't well informed.
