ELD in special colors

Take a look at ELD - before doing some charter flights to Nigeria.

Last year, it was Israir who did these flights.

Since when does it have this painting, and for how long is it supposed to stay, and what is it supposed to mean?

Read the following article.

I'm just surprised that LY has a 744 spare for this.

I saw it in TLV (along with a bunch of the pax at Carmel market).

Anyne know how they get there? Looks like it would be a long long way unless they go over Sudan or Libya, which I assume are no-nos.

Interesting, thanks. Can't do much for the cost structure.

ELD goes back to El Al on Jan 2nd. It will be replaced on the routes to Nigeria by an all-white A340 owned by HiFly.

What is the source of this (seemingly untrue) info?

According to Acars and libhomeradar, the aircraft hasn't operated for ELAL since NOV 12, I've also managed to find a photo of it flying on JAN 12 still in it's Nigeria livery.

And it seems to be up to no good too, it has lost a winglet (as seen on the photo), while shaving a electric post in Nigeria (seems like they have hired only the aircraft, with their own pilots, I doubt ELAL's pilots are so prefossional), I hope it's back fast, before they make a total wreck of it.

Exclamation

I found this Nigerian press release;

The B747-400 (4X-ELD) leased by Travel Aviation and Tourism (TAT) Nigeria from El Al for the airlift of Christian pilgrims to Israel, had its left wing damaged yesterday, after hitting and pulling down some electric poles at Abuja Airport. Reportedly, the aircraft taxied on the wrong tarmac before take-off. The nine-hour flight was cancelled and a replacement aircraft will be sent today.
