From a.net
http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo....main/4593502/
*LLBG is reconfiguring the runways to make takeoffs/landings 'safer', and the taxi to the quiet runway more direct.
* New control tower
* concourse E will be built (380 capable), nothing about A
Anyone have any additional info? Timetable for E/A? If LY will take part of it.
With all the star carriers flying to TLV, it would be nice to have a star lounge (or something better than the Dan, which gets way too crowded during peak times)

From someone that was involved in Natbag 2000 project... which started in 1998
and done in 2004, I would say... Take it easy...
If the new project estimated in 1 year, calculate at least 4!

well, I guess they're finally getting on with it (maybe)
probably at triple the cost and it'll take 4 years.
Sometimes I think we could do better with a benevolent dictator to run national infrastructure... the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv train, the TLV subway, this.... what happened to tachless?!

The Tel Aviv - Jerusalem train is actually being built and should be ready in 2 years or so.
There are talks about the E concourse for a while now but I can't see the real reason for it. There is no shortage of gates at TLV at any time during the day.
If anything is urgently needed in TLV it is a revamp and extension of the check-in area!
The main plan for changing the runways is to extend runway 03-21 to the north and make it the main arrivals runway. Nowadays, this runway is rarely used as a runway and is mainly used as the taxiway to runway 26 ("the quiet" one).

From all the things written above the only thing that scare me is the 380...
Imagine LY001, Flying with 380..., All the Israelis...., All the "Dosim"...
The Shacharit pray...

Yesterday, for a brief moment I thought that I was at a "normal" airport.
At 6:30 AM there were 8 planes lined up to take off on the runway opposite the terminal, not the "quiet" one. It could be due to the clouds and the fact that two 747, one 777 and one 767 were landing at the same time.
It kind of reminded me of LGA in the morning, alebit about 20 planes less, but then reality set it. The next landing was scheduled for 2 hours away and after that another hour. Passport Control closed up shop and they almost turned out the lights.
What they need there if possible, is better distribution of takeoffs and landings but unforfunately this is largely dictated by the foreign scheduled airliness

I dont mind Dosim on the flights, I dont mind they Pray,
I dont mind kids running in Business or First, I dont mind if they cry or not,
I dont mind if you left your wife or mistress in economy or even if you snore...
All i care is I get from point A to point B safely and Its on a business or first
class seat all the rest is really minor!
I am sorry if i hurt you in anyway, The smiley was suppose to explain it...
