Delayed Flight into Gatwick

Hi,

I am due into Gatwick on the delayed EZY8040, with a current landing time of 23.58. I need to get from the North terminal for the last train at 00.41 - what are the chances I will make this?

Thanks

Helen

Hand baggage? You probably should make it. If you have hold luggage, 50/50, no better.

Trains to London and Bedford, and Brighton, run all night.

Thanks for the reply - yes hand baggage. I've looked at the timetable and it says last train is 00.41 then the next one is 04.40 - is that incorrect? I just need to get to London then I can pick up a bike home...

Hi,

according to the thameslink website there are trains from LGW to London Blackfriars ( 0042, 0145 , 0245) tomorrow morning. Not sure about London victoria ( or your london destination)

Looks like you landed shortly after midnight ... so you should be ok ...

Just don't give up even if you think you are likely to miss the 00:42 train ... sometimes they are held in Gatwick station ... so just keep going to Platform 1 and hope for the best !

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, I made the train by running the fastest I think Ive ran in a while 🥵but a few things conspired against me

Pilot said 3.35 hours as tail wind - happy days as would be around 23.40 into LGW, but then had an air traffic control restriction until 20.20 🤯

Landed at a far away gate over the long bridge but at least it wasnt a remote stand.

Lots of police waiting at aircraft doors for a male so all males had to show their boarding passes. Luckily I was fairly near the front so missed any commotion at the back.

On the flight I was talking to one of the pilots who said theyve tried all three train companies to put on extra trains after midnight (as was pre 2020), but to no avail.

Glad you made it!

For others reading, Thameslink run all night to London Blackfriars and London St Pancras, on a roughly hourly frequency. There is a gap in trains to London Victoria.

Just to add to Arctic Troll 's information - the train stopped at East Croydon at 1.10am and there was a fast train to Victoria at 1.13am which took about 20 mins, so there is a connection there. Last night it got to East Croydon 3 mins late so that connection was lost.
