Upfront but different seats?

I booked the upfront seating primarily because I wanted the large bag and to be able to choose seats.
Unfortunately the only available seat left in the "upfront" area is a middle seat. I thought that I'd be able to then choose a standard window seat since I paid for a seat assignment.

Am I permitted to change to any standard seat? I'd prefer a window seat. If I try to select it, it seems like my "Large bag" goes away.
Is this correct? If I pay for "upfront", I must sit in the "upfront" area or lose my "large bag"?

You can pay to take a large cabin bag on board as a standalone item.

You can pay to select any seat you want

Or you can pay for "up front" where you get both for a lower price that each separately.

My question is whether this allows you to select a "non-upfront" seat and still keep the large bag. When I booked it, I assumed I could give up that seat but still keep my large bag but when I try to select it online, It seems like the large bag goes away. However it is unclear if this is an artifact of the website or if I'd really lose my large bag.

No, if you change to a non-upfront seat you lose the privileges that go with the upfront seat unfortunately. It is annoying but it's been like that for a while. Don't forget to check exit rows which have the same benefit albeit for slightly more.

ok good to know. The bag was most important to me. It's not that long of a flight so I don't care too much but middle is annoying

i agree it happens quite frequently. To be honest on my routes, upfront is very often packed so Ive never understood why they dont make size dynamic (prove is already and can vary hugely)

If they allowed one to sit in a different (non-upfront) seat without losing what they paid for, they could sell more upfront seats as well.
Anyways, I guess I made a bad assumption, should have just taken my changes with the seat and bought the large bag only

Hasn't happened before but I have a few flexi tickets over the next 2 weeks and have had to change the dates

Problem is that there are no seats in the up front cabin now and I have to sit in a standard seat

Will my carry on luggage allowance be honoured even if I end up in a standard seat ( with a easyjet flexi ticket)
