Drop off fees

Out of interest - anyone happen to know why if you rent a car in Nevada and drop it off in California or Arizona - their is no drop off fee?

Is it a law? Cannot see the rental companies doing it for no reason...

Maybe they have a lot of cars that have been moved to Vegas and appreciate the opportunity to get them back 'home' to higher margin rental locations?

There is quite a lot of one-way traffic between PHX/LAX/SAN and LAS and it's the way of the rental companies to keep competitive.
