avoiding "extra driver fee"

Found a code for PHX that has decent rates for a mini van rental.....but the "extra driver fee" adds almost $50 to the total cost of the rental. My husband does most of the driving; although I do use the rental to do some "local driving" once we've reached our destination. I know that some people have said the codes they've used do not add on the "extra driver fee"...but my code apparently does (WMMV). Is there any way around the extra fee? Or any code that eliminates it?

don't know of any codes to avoid the fee, but in CA as long as you're married your spose can drive the vehicle without the extra driver fee. Hertz guy said it was the rule for all rental companies there. not sure if that's the rule in AZ as wells since Ms Medic never likes to drive if I'm around

Also check the location rules. While Dollar doesn't waive the extra driver fee as a rule a lot of locations do. I have a reservation in Vegas and the local T&C clearly states an additional authorized driver (spouse, etc) is included.

Use Dollar promotion code/corporate code number of BR0888 to avoid all extra driver fees, all underage fees, and get some sort of extra money off the regular rate (not sure what). It's the best coupon code I could find on the net.
