Avoid Dollar YUL

Rented a car for one day over the weekend at YUL. Great rate ($17CAD), but when I returned the car, they claimed that I made a tiny scratch on the lower rear bumper. The car had over 26,000 km on it and had scratches all over it (like any rental car that's been driven that much). I firmly believe that this scratch was there when I picked up the car. The guy was also rude about the whole thing, claiming that he could tell that this scratch was "fresh." He and the other employee discussed the whole thing in French even though they both spoke good English when we were talking to them.

I wouldn't sign their damage form and we'll see if they follow up. I have good renter's insurance on my credit card, but I hate for anyone to pay on this swindle.

At this location, Dollar and Thrifty are together. I'd suggest avoiding both.

Wow. My dad had a bad experience last week @ Dollar YUL. There was no sign for returns to Dollar and when he finally found the right area "Thrifty" he went to speak to the rep. The guy told him "Don't you know Dollar is Thrifty?" and then told him he would only charge him for an extra hour instead of the 2. He then asked my dad "Aren't you going to say Thank You?" I didn't witness this but that is what my dad explained in addition to the guy being extremely rude, arrogant and surly.

I have given my dad the email for the head office and he will be making a complaint.

Definitely make a complaint about the rudeness at YUL. You will get an apology and a $15 coupon. How do I know this? You can guess.
