I had hip replacement 1.5 years ago and since then, always beep when going through the metal detector when I rarely did prior. I now give myself more time to allow for the added time to go through security because sometimes it takes awhile to get a woman.

On a recent trip, my first one since the Underwear bomber, I was shocked at the heightened inspection I went through. In the past, I was wanded (and ironically it never beeped at the site of my hip) and quickly padded down. I was wanded and completely frisked. She ran her hands under my breasts literally lifting the underwire of my bra through my shirt and came thisclose to touching my crotch area.

So, just a warning if you haven't flown since the underwear bomber, you most likely will undergo much more extensive and possibly personally intrusive screening after beeping.
