Whatever happened to bundt cake mixes?

BamaVol Jr #1 had a birthday today. We'll celebrate this weekend. He asked for a bundt cake. I found lots of recipes on the internet, but the grocery store no longer sells bundt cake mixes. I love to cook, but I hate to bake.

And why can't I buy a vienetta anymore?

don't regular cake mixes give directions for cooking in a bundt pan?

You might try someplace like Williams Sonoma

Honey, we can't send you to college. We had to take out a second mortgage for your stupid bundt cake mix!

Bundt cakes died at the hands of "plated desserts" and ultra-faddy cake flavors. Can't remember exactly what it was, but I saw one at the store last week with 3 adjectives in the flavor name. Whatever happened to cake flavors like "chocolate" or "lemon?"

You'll end up less aggravated following a recipe with ingredients you already have on hand than hunting down a mix.

I'll try Target. Miss BamaVol works there. If they have one, she can find it. What I was hoping to find was the kind with an interior ring of gooey filling. I didn't find any promising recipes.

As long as I live, I will never forget the bundt cake scene in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Everytime I hear the words "bundt cake" I start laughing.

As for Viennetta, I actually once emailed Breyer's about that a few years ago. IIRC, it's no longer sold in the US. I was totally bummed. I have heard rumors of viennettas popping up here and there on occasion, but never have been so lucky as to encounter one myself.

I've made this recipe numerous times (http://www.aarpmagazine.org/food/rec...59351159985446) numerous times for family and and given it to friends. One nice thing is it can be frozen but I don't know of an occasion where there was any left to freeze

If not in the US, then how close? If I had to pop up to Canada every once in a while, I just might do so.

That is one sad list. It's not that I lament the passing of any particular hamburger helper, but too many candy and dessert items have shuffled off this mortal coil before I was ready to say goodbye.
