I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the truffle tasting menu at Alain Ducasse ... I just LOVE truffles in general. It worth every single dollar eating a meal like that. I did not pay for the meal so I had no idea it costs that much. WOW !!
I hope they have the truffle tasting menu back soon. |

Eigensinn Farm (north of Toronto)
It was CDN$250 a head for the food. They are BYOB so the drink was about $90 per head.

Most i've spent is $300 Australian per head which was made up of $150 per head for food and $150 per head for wine/champagne How much is that in real money?:D I'll 'fess up to having approached the $200 (US) mark with very modest wines (but including pre-and post-prandial drinks). Even here in the hinterlands, some functions can get out of hand. I'm waiting for the March Annual Meeting of he local Friars' Club, a small (15 survivors) and insular bunch of which I was a founding member 20+ years ago, Black Tie and lots of napery, and last year's bill for drinks, wine and dinner was $180. That's in Waco, Texas - a fur piece from the world's culinary capitals - and was admittedly gross excess (and Kobe beef and a masterful Claret) on the part of the Menu Chair. |
Bukhara-New Delhi > $550 - I would say 70/30 Alcohol-Food. They had this amazing Single malt $200 a glass! Business dinner so i paid the full tab of $3000 for 5 of us!
Wasabi-Mumbai> $600 - Everyone had the 'Kobe'! along with some nice wine! 50/50 i would say... Cipriani's-NY> $600 - Great Veal and just the spirit of NY in September! This was in '02 and an anniversary special! |
This is a great thread - I will have to add some of these restaurants to my future dining plans!
The French Laundry wins as the most $$ we've ever spent on a meal, about $500 a head with wine. |
Following thecleave, the most I've spent per head was about $90 at Thomas Keller's Bouchon.

that I *kind of* paid for: Tantra in Miami. A friend of mine and I just quietly spent about $700 USD.
I remember the waiter coming to the table and offering us "the oysters on the half shell special" and us saying.... "Ooh. I could eat a couple dozen oysters!". I think they came 4 to an order at $25 an order. A bottle of wine and dinner and some porto later and Bang! Luckily we were at a confeence and it all went on the expense account. It was a lot for us given that we weren't intentionally running up the score. ____ that I didn't pay for........ It was back in 1997 or 98 or 99 at a Siemens sponsored event in Chicago. memory is foggy but I think it was Gibson's. Our table of 8 racked up something like $6k in over-the-top ordering. :) Ah, The gold old days! |
that I've had to pay for, and not expense...probably $250 for 2 people, very rare though, I'm usually cheap..especially in this market.
|
Just for food, probably $190-200 after tax/tip per person. Throw in alcohol, and it goes sky high :)

A few years ago, my husband and I spent around 750 euro at Lasserre in Paris. So I guess at the time, it was about $600.00 per person. The whole experience was simply divine.

To date, US$ 120 at Sam Choy's Diamond Head last year. Still 18 back then, so no wine or anything.. Only a four course meal..
Oh, I forgot, actually I have had a lunch in Singapore for SIN $4,000.. The actual lunch is around $ 30, but the aftermath of the lunch was the rest.. Had food poisoning before reaching the airport, got flight cancelled, and went to the hospital for 3 days.. Yeah, its certainly the most expensive in my repetoir :D |
around 200 for food and booze
