It is one thing for cereal killers to abuse their own bodies, quite another to take risks with the health of others.

alief, I am a reformed cereal killer. I learned the truth too late to avoid the consequences. My advice is to avoid the stuff altogether unless genetic testing has shown you to be immune to the ravages of metabolic syndrome...or you don't happen to care about preserving your health.

Don't fall for the whole grain scam the food manufacturers are pulling, either.
That MSNBC article doesn't even have the word cereal in it. Are you extrapolating that everyone who eats cereal must have high blood sugar???? I'm seriously looking for the connection here.

Perhaps when my wife gets pregnant I'll start cooking her bacon and eggs every morning. Would that be better?

Anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks depending on the type/brand.

I go through a box about every 5 days or so, depending on the type of cereal.

I'll start -- it was/is about 18 months..... and my burn rate is about one box per 5 or 6 days, depending on the size.

No, it wasn't part of the Kellogg's AA promo..... but that was fun too! It was just one of the random promotions our local supermarket does from time to time: Buy X, get $10 back. I haven't actually 'paid' for cereal in about 5 years, and at various points I've had the store pay me to take it!
I buy cereal in 25 pound bulk quantities. My 2 kids (under 6yo) and I eat it regularly. A box like that has a stated shelf life of 6-8 months; we usually finish it in about 3 mos.

How long?

I just soloed a family sized box of Frosted Flakes in 6 days. Today was my last bowl and I'm regretting a lot of life decisions now. Good bye cruel world! (Starves to death) 💀

A 17 ounce box of Oatmeal Crisp with Almonds lasts 5 days for my wife. I eat different cereals and maybe once a week. Most go stale before I finish one. I would tire of anything even 2 days in a row.

Mr. Kipper goes through a box every week. I usually skip a day here and there for breakfast, so I usually get a few weeks out of a box.

6-7 bowls for me. Love this brand and flavor, but can't find it locally so it is my rare grocery purchase on Amazon.

it is my luxury cereal. OMG yum. 5 boxes remaining in the pantry.

HBofO (almonds not plain) and Life (Conammon preferred, plain in a pinch) are my daily drivers. Easy to find locally and usually available in warehouse clubs for less. Mikey still likes it 40 years later. 8-10 boxes of Life (Cinammon) and 3 warehouse packs of HBofO on hand at home at the moment.
