Chain Restaurant Manager: Please turn down the music!
It seems like one can not go out to dinner at a moderate priced eating establishment without having to endure incredibly loud and offensive music. I have gone into many chain restaurants recently and walked right out the door after being attacked by incredibly bad music at a very high volume.
Yesterday we went in a local chain and the music was relatively quiet but right after we ordered the teenagers running the place cranked the gangster rap music way up. We asked the manager to put the music down and he did, but not enough. We were close to getting our food so tolerated it, but left as quickly as we could. These are mainstream chains and with all the locally owned spots designed for the older crowd closing, it is our only dining choice in my hometown.
Can't they turn down the loud and offensive music in American chain restaurants?

Welcome to America. We invented not only chain restaurants, but also Muzak. The background music in the restaurant was designed to soothe patrons and encourage them to consume more food and beverages. However, the music is supposed to be played at a barely perceptible level. If patrons are at all conscious of the fact there is music being played, it is too loud; and the operator of the restaurant did not follow instructions.

Loud music is the #1 reason for me to turn around and leave before even bothering to sit down in a restaurant...and while we are talking about music...who was it who decided that loud TVs need to be blaring EVERYWHERE?
