After the head to head of '98 vs. '99 of Bois de Boursan Cuvee des Felix last night,

My nod goes to the remaining '98 in my cellar. Lots of good stuff, but this was nothing short of sublime.

Shame you missed out on the Chateau Margaux - probably the best of all the '81s.

As for me, I have to admit, I've been selling my top wines through a broker, as I can't rationalize drinking too many bottles worth many hundreds, to even thousands of dollars. I did decide to keep my '86 Mouton, '89 Leoville Las Cases, and '88 Yquem, since the prices the Broker told me I'd get was less than I had been hoping on these.

According to the notes on www.cellartracker.com, people are drinking and enjoying them now. Drinking windown is now - 2034.

The bottles (and me) will be long gone by then.

I think '98s will be a vintage to drink in the 10-20 year time range.

Without commenting on the specific 98 vintage, which as stated above I have yet to taste, in my experience the drinking windows of most all top French wines are grossly exaggerated. Its if the last (and only) thing that France wants to do the best than any other wine region is to make wines that will last "forever"....
