Aren't both from the Dallas-based House of Brinker, which long ago gave us "Steak and Ale", the first chain to effectively target business travelers. Brinker, the founder, was in my youth married to a tennis star, "Mo" Connally, who died unfortunately at a young age. I've always considered him as sort ofa popular resturant guru.

Actually I have a funny story about everyone's favourite place to go when craving a little hospitaliano... . Years ago, a partner at some big-name consulting firm (+ wife, + two small children) was taking my friend (+ wife) out to dinner at some really fancy steakhouse. Since this consulting firm was a fancy company and since the partner was kind of a fancy guy, it made sense that they were having dinner somewhere so nice.

While they were eating, one of the partner's children (about 5 years old) announces suddenly, "You know, Dad, this place is really nice. Almost as nice as the Olive Garden."

This was years ago and to this day, my friend and I now use the Olive Garden as a benchmark for rating dining experiences. :)

I used to get invited for drinks at TGIF all the time. They had some really yummy ice cream drinks back in the day. But I feel like if you want to come off as a macho guy, then you should not be ordering drinks with ice cream in them.

Actually, even if you forgo the macho part, presumably you can get the girl drunk faster if you skip the ice cream and stick to the assorted long island type beverages, no?
