OK, so has anyone taken the challenge? How many did you eat? Back in the day, I would have been able to make it worth my dime, but things have changed. (Lipitor, anyone!):)

Closest one for me is about 10 miles away...might just have to make a field trip with a few friends one day. :P

As it turns out, our local On the Border just closed for good! Apparently I waited a little too long to get my $9 AYCE enchiladas. :p

Of course, there is ample high-quality Mexican food here, and this OTB was located in a neighborhood that is rapidly losing out to newer shopping areas farther out, as this blog points out:

I think I'd want to avoid all I can eat from any restaurant of this type. Yikes.

Wow!

Going through alanw's link
there's an OTB salad at 1,500 cals http://www.menshealth.com/20worst/worstsalad.html
A chicken entree from Chili's at 2,040 cals http://www.menshealth.com/20worst/worstchicken.html
A fish entree from OTB at 2,100 cals http://www.menshealth.com/20worst/worstfish.html
An onion starter from Chili's at 2,710 cals http://www.menshealth.com/20worst/worststarter.html
as well as OTB's nachos at 2,740 cals

a salad, starter and entree could easily rack up over 7,000 cals

I'd hate to see what low-quality Mexican food is like. (I'm genuinely shocked)

I have a packet of cookies in front of me (McVities White choc chip). Calorie content for 150gms is 750cals. Puts these dishes into perspective.

Err....Wouldn't all you can eat generally mean low quality?

These menu items aren't necessarily part of the 'all you can eat' deal. (Not sure why you're asking me... my post was kind of wondering the same sort of thing)

Even so, my guess it that things must be pretty bad for anyone to assert that OTD offers "high-quality Mexican food".

Well, having been to Chilis in Canary Wharf, I can tell you if OTD is anything like them its low quality;). Most all you can eat places offer a la carte items (Pizza Hut, Sizzler etc) but when you start offering those all you can eat set ups its almost impossible to serve good food. And more fat in the food means you can leave it sitting on the "buffet" for longer periods without it drying out etc

Of course if you want proper Tex-Mex you should head here

For real?? I've been all over the place and never seen an OTB. However, everywhere I go (incl. Dubai), I've always come across a Chili's... .

LOL it certainly isn't "high quality" by any stretch; there are simply some places where Mexican food is so sparse that this is all you have. Not good for you.

Believe me, I would be removed from the family tree if I expressed any enjoyment of On the Border. :D

For real. I would not lie to you, my dear (about this, anyway).

Include a couple other concepts to the list that Brinker owns.

I only know this happy fun fact because a certain Chili's kitchen kept me alive through college, in more ways than one. May I never see another fajita again!!!
