Not a misspelling, but I once saw "Chef's Own Liver" on a diner menu.

Did you order it? ;) It would be fun to ask how many orders are available - 'one night only'.

In norwegian, the difference between the words for sauce and sheep is one letter (sauce = saus, sheep = sau). At a kids menu in a local Chineese restaurant, they serve Spaghetti with tomato sheep..

I've posted this here before, but it is my favorite. When we lived in China, the local Chinese restaurant had a dish that was donkey steak with peppers. On the menu, the English translation came out...

wait for it...

Spicy As$ Meat :D

alanw, I've seen that before and was going to add it until I saw you beat me to it. I remember giggling so hard at work people came over to see what was up - and I never laugh out loud at stuff online :)

It is hilarious!!!

Ask for it by name!
I will not ask about the aroma. Just not to my taste, but such dishes occasionally make the news (and courts).

Just a bump to see if any memorable menu misspellings remain.

Jeez guys

You ever hear the expression cheap shot?

You know what it means? One definition is taking shots are poor semi-literate in English (NOT stupid) immigrants just trying to make honest $$.

And who takes cheap shots? Right, I don't like them either.:td:

In Hong Kong, I had a dish called "explodes the large intestine".

In Granada, Spain, with English translation alongside the Spanish:

Calf's Lever (you need something hefty to get it onto the plate)

Brian Omelet (he has become a new hero of mine...)

not a mis-spelling as far as they were concerned and actually pretty logical....

in Vietnam, if I remember correctly, sandwich was 'san dwych'

Relax and enjoy! The fun is the discover and sharing - nobody's perfect but some of us have a sense of humour. ;)

www.engrish.com is another compilation, if you seek some more.
Menu link. Chinglish link.
The book of the same title is just a picture book with photos of the discoveries.

It just goes to show there is both an interest and a market for these spellings - and some people enjoy a laugh while others get offended. :D

And just to offend a few more people - I would rather eat somewhere with dodgy English than to eat dodgy English restaurant fare (I have seen too many Kitchen Nightmares.). ;)

It's not that funny, but for some reason, it's stuck with me for 35 years.

When I was a teenager, I had dinner in a Madrid restaurant that served "green beams" as a veggie side.

Well, we recently had a local Chinese take-out place send out brochures. Amongst other items listed from their 'buffet,' they had "pork, snow crab legs, measles, clams" and so on. I think I'll pass on the measles
