Vodka - What do you recommend?

I need to buy a bottle (750ml) of vodka

What do you recommend under $25

This seems to be the one type of alcohol where the packaging really influences the price more than any of the other types of liquor. I know it happens but Vodka is really obnoxious about it.

So to rephrase, whats the best value for a 750 say $25 or less?

I would recommend "a lot of it" :D

Sorry Horse, I had to.

I like Belvedere but that's above your price range.

You could probably get Absolut for your price. Certainly Smirnoff.

Cheers.

I'm not a drinker much at all but kettle one seems to be above average stuff (I can taste a difference that I like over the "other" stuff I've tried)

No idea on price but even if its $40 we aren't going to be breaking the bank for something that isn't swill.

Check for sales as someone usually has a loss leader. I adore Grey Goose. It's really smooth and I can drink it on the rocks which I can't with some others. But if you are going to mix in a cocktail. ...bloody mary, Seabreeze etc I think Smirnoff is perfectly fine.

Trader Joes has good everyday prices on brand names.

Horse won't be joining your group if Ian gets his act together and organizes his Do.

Though I am a drinker, but the Do might coincide when am off alcohol.

That varies by state. Where I now live the state sets the hard liquor prices, so TJ's here would be the same as any other place that sells alcohol.

Cheers.

I'm that way with champagne. If I'm drinking it straight I'm going w/ the good stuff. If I'm mixing it with OJ for mimosas/buck fizz, then I'll drop down one level.

Cheers.

Well under $25 a litre, MONOPOLOVA, a potato vodka distilled in Vienna, consistent and smooth, with the slightly "rounder" flavor of potato alcohol. TITO'S from Austin, Texas certainly ranks with some of the "Fancy Brands" and isa decent palatable grain alky.

Premium vodkas are substantially over-priced, considering that other than filtration (amount, type and duration) and water source, there's little difference in preparation.

Monopolowa...Winner.

Honestly, depending on your state, for $25 you could even get a handle/1.75L bottle of relatively higher priced imported brands like: Russian Standard, Green Mark, or Stoli.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/dinin...ka-thread.html

Costco house brand Kirkland Signature vodka is made by the folks at Grey Goose and half the price of Grey Goose.

Else, I like Ketel One or Tito's. But I'm not much of a vodka drinker. My Russian friends tend to drink Stoli.

I always have a hard time wrapping my mind around the weird liquor laws in some states.

I know, right! Living in Chicago I just got used to buying anything anytime anywhere. New York was an eye opener. Maine isn't so bad...but the state sets the prices, I think.
