I am really fond of Corsair's Triple smoke. These guys are really doing some neat stuff. There is more to Tennessee Spirits than Jack Daniels-much more.

And after my last last ski trip to Park City I got to know a number of the very fine offerings from High West Distillery too like their "Campfire" and "American Prairie Reserve"

George Dickel comes to mind.

Obviously, yes that's true. I should have put there is more to TN whiskey than Jack Daniels and George Dickel but it was late. However, as the general public is concerned, at least here inside the state...Dickel is still second fiddle!

My larger point was to give the readers a name that not everyone already knows is associated with Tennessee.

I was just at Costco and noticed they have a bunch of bourbons out. Looks like some new Christmas gift packages available. More 1.75L bottles than normal. I am no expert, but prices looked pretty good. For example, I forget the brand, but it was a good one and it was $26 for 750 and $58 for 1.75 and the latter came with a free decanter.

Might be worth checking.

Thanks for the heads-up on Costco. Will have to check that out.

Not sure if I've asked you this but, have you tried the Costco Kirkland Signature 7 year old Bourbon?

I have not. Got it for my wife, who is more of a bourbon drinker than I, and she liked it.

Outrageous. Chef Brock is a great bourbon lover and a great guy. I know where he got those bottles and I know Mike and Jared as well....

I've never even heard of the magazine "Garden & Gun". Then again, I'm pretty sure magazines based on living a "Southern Lifestyle" aren't too popular with us Yankees up here. :)

Looks like some excellent bourbon though.

Sounds fun. Who's the designated drunk driver? :) Or do you just sleep it off at the distillery?

I'd love to go but some of FlyerTalkers I would want to meet probably couldn't care less about attending.

As far as I have experienced, you can only get tiny samples at the distilleries, maybe amounting up to 1.5 shots in total. Not enough to get drunk, though most will feel a little something. The most samples I have ever had is 5 and they were about small-thimble-sized.

And it is hard to fit in more than 2 distilleries a day; might get 3 if efficient and do not waste any time.

The heavy consumption is back at the host hotel in the evening!

Scored some decent ryes over the weekend out in the LAS area: Willet 2, Willet 8, and Masterson's 10. The last one I'd looked at at VA ABC before, but could never ever justify spending what they ask ($122!); it was $50 in LAS and something I could then pull the trigger on.
