The pork laulau/fried rice combo platter or the chicken yakatori/fried rice combo platter from Kuhio Grille in Hilo, Hawaii 5. Toasted ravioli from St. Louis 6. Ahi sashimi that was in the water earlier that day that is served by so many of my neighbors on New Year's Eve. |

1) A Scandinavian herring platter with new potatoes and dill butter in early Summer
2) Assorted fish eggs ( vendace, whitefish, burbot, salmon ) and fish liver on toast garnished with chopped red onion, smetana and black pepper. From Christmas to March. 3) Osaka style pressed mackerel sushi at any old-fashioned take away in the namesake city 4) Sichuan style fish soup ( a lot of hot peppers included ) at my current neighbourhood upscale Sichuanese place 5) Korean steamed & vinegared crab in one of the Shinsa-dong area specialist restaurants in Seoul And for something less fishy 6) The Sundays only Wienerschnitzel with real Austrian garnishes and a glass or two of Styrian wine at Esser's Gasthaus in Cologne |

2. Lobster. 3. Crab. 4. Raw oyster. 5. Sushi. 6. Cheap cup ramen. For when you start taking the above five for granted. I'd add drinks to this list: 1. Canadian Niagara region icewine. 2. Australian Shiraz red. 3. Canadian Niagara region table white wine. 4. Espresso. 5. St. Ambroise, Oatmeal Stout. 6. Perrier. Because you can only take the above so often without condemnation out of heaven. |

Well, the obvious answer is Ambrosia, but I'll go for:
1. Baguette with butter from any boulangerie in Paris. 2. Steak Frites from Chez Georges in Paris or Bisteca from Osvaldo (see no.5) 3. Moules from Chez Leon in Brussels 4. Frisse Salad, also from Chez Georges in Paris 5. Mushroom Torteloni with Truffle Cream sauce from Taverna Osvaldo outside Firenze. 5. hmmm - dessert - anything from France that features butter cream and chocolate. Now, can we talk about the wines? Oh - I need room for Foie Gras in Alsace. So many foods, so little time.... |
