Any safety precautions necessary? Better to pack with checked luggage or may I carry it on?

Edited to add that I am truly "bringing home the bacon" this week.
Don't know how many hours before the 2PM Hotel check-out, but as soon you bring your product to the lodging place, request management to place it in their commercial freeser till you depart, then wrap tighly in clpthes and in 'checked' baggaege

I found a simple recipe for onion and bacon sauce for my pancetta. I used fresh roma tomatos and seasoned it with thyme. It was served over a wheat angel hair pasta and everyone liked it. No casualties.

It never crossed my mind that I'd be bringing bacons on my car picnic trips. Well this thread has changed it all.
