Using EB coupons with gift cards/certificates?

As a gift card is not a 'discount' of any kind, there shouldn't be any reason you can't use a coupon with it. Correct?

I am trying to rack up 25 iDines by the end of December. Because we're eating out allot less currently, I'm not sure how easily I'll fit them all in, so I'm thinking of alternate ways to get to 25 dines.

We try to use the Entertainment Book and there are at least a couple that are both Entertainment Book + iDine. So, come November when the new EB is released, I could look at the places I am sure we would want to dine in the coming year and purchase GIFT CERTIFICATES at those places. In effect, posting next year's dinner during this year's promo

Just to cover the bases, since gift cards aren't discounts or promos, there wouldn't be any reason I can't use my Entertainment Card and my Gift Card/Certificate when we go for dinner. Correct?

Thanks

I don't see any problem here. I've certainly used coupons and gift cards at casual dining places like Sweet Tomatoes (soup and salad buffet place). For example, I used a 15% off coupon and paid with a gift card that I got for Christmas.

The gift card should be viewed as a PAYMENT method, while the coupon is a DISCOUNTED price.
