I love warming up two pieces of Wonder Breads and sticking a sunny side up eggs in between. Makes for a perfect sandwich. Yummy!

Last time I ate at a Jollibee was when I was in Saipan! The evaluation of their food is pretty much on target. Then again, I wasn't overwhelmed with the food in the CNMI in general.

I've eaten at a Jolibee location in So. Cal. Food ain't too bad but portions were really stingy. I needed two boxes of Palabok to fullfil my hunger. One just won't cut it.

I had a Santa Fe burger at RR this past weekend and thought it was the best burger I've had in recent memory.

I think I need to get out more...

Ya I am not a real big fan of Red Robin, mostly for burgers I like In & Out or Fuddruckers. What is up with the egg? I feel like i'm on a info-mercial.

Both a fried egg and beetroot are very common on burgers in NZ. I miss em ...

Red Robin is slightly overrated in my opinion. Great burger, but I don't know if I'd pay that much for one.

Wow, the consensus here is that RR is pretty low on the scale. I would put it more in the middle among casual-dining chains. As others have said, the best part about it is the innovativeness (for a burger joint) and variety on the menu.

I think I recall that RR also has a great selection of milk shake flavors, until I gave them up (I will consume in a single sitting a burger with cheese and other condiments, all-I-can-eat fries, and a sweet "martini," but I have to draw the calorie line somewhere :p). I went there once recently, to the one near BWI airport, and had a decent meal.

I remember seeling Jollibee everywhere in Manila, and was intrigued when I saw it in San Francisco for the first time, but never tried it. I am disappointed to hear that it's underwhelming! Oh, well, I still will have to try it one of these days. I am surprised that it hasn't yet opened in Abu Dhabi or Doha, where there are huge Filipino populations.

Agree with you about Red Robin. Don't expect a gourmet meal, but do expect a pretty decent burger or chicken sandwich.

Indeed.

I'm developing the opinion that each kind of restaurant has its place in life. Sometimes, you want a good, home-style burger, and you'll go for a little local-owned joint that serves 'em up right. Sometimes, you just want some salt and fat (with a modicum of actual protein) at 2am, and McDonald's sounds appetizing (though, admittedly, that should be fairly rarely! :D). And sometimes you want the mix of flavors that a Red Robin burger comes with.

Every so often--maybe four or five times a year--I get and act on a craving for the bleu cheese crumbles and onion straws that make up a RR Bleu Ribbon Burger. It's not better or worse than Tommy's Burger Stop or the Arctic Roadrunner, just different--in the same way that Italian isn't better or worse than Mexican, just different. You choose it depending on what your mood and tastes for that day are.

I will admit they are on the expensive side of burgers (12ish for my Bleu Ribbon), which is why I only act on the craving four or five times per year. ;)

(Small plug: you can enjoy all of the special/unique/better/non-chain/"different" culinary delights that Anchorage is chock-full of, including the best, freshest, wildest seafood you'll ever try [and if you're not in the mood for a good chunk of halibut that day, well, you'd better get in the mood!] by joining us on Moose Do Deux, which will almost certainly largely feature a good bit of restaurant-hopping around our collection of great eats! :D See the link in my signature for details...)

I couldn't agree more. A lot of people sanctimoniously jeer at chain restaurants, but one can certainly appreciate good food, and even be a food snob, and still enjoy Red Robin or a similar place every now and again.

When I am oversees for months at a time, I alternate between street food, the best local restaurants at all levels that the locale I am in has to offer, and, yes, even the occasional American chain. I distinctly remember being in Abu Dhabi for a couple of months, and the idea of fajitas and appetizers sounded appealing, so my Arab friends and I went to Chilis and had one of the more satisfying meals of my trip.

I would place RR in the same category as Ruby Tuesdays or Fuddruckers, decent burgers but nothin to write home about. I will say that any of the three are much, much better when blowing a .10.:)

Inspired by this thread, I went to Red Robin last night. Had only been once before and didn't remember anything about the first visit. I got a BBQ burger and it was decent; I'll probably be back when our local roving burger truck isn't nearby.

Kind of like White Castles, ugh when sober, not too shabby when at or above .10;)

is this a catering truck, similar to the ones that frequent factories or more like the taco trucks one sees in various cities?

We are overrun with taco trucks in town, so a catering company is joining the bandwagon: http://www.durhamcatering.com/onlyburger/

It's going pretty well, except for their untimely crash in December: https://twitter.com/onlyburger/status/1040770223
