Best Bottled Water
I was just wondering what bottled water do you think is the best?
I drink TAU, VOSS, and FIJI. Out of these three I would have to say TAU, even though it is about $55 for 24 bottles. |
Aqua Panna For Me
|
Evian, Contrex, Vittel
|
Trinity (the blue label, not the yellow which is 'enhanced') from a geothermal spring in Idaho.
Too expensive, so I drink Zephyrhills, a nice local water. Very good. If not that, then Fiji. |
Everyday: Publix (supermarket) Spring Water and Dannon (for the AA miles) :)
Special and/or restaurants: Volvic, Vittel and Fiji - Evian if the preceeding not available Don't drink - Perrier (tastes like soap) |
Fiji for me.
|
I have tap water from Oaxaca mailed in... Yeah its expensive, but the giardia is worth it! ;)
Arrowhead and Crystal Geyser. Not the best water, but good enough at 32 bottles for $4.99. Voss is fun for to drink and Evian or Fiji are my favorites if I buy the premium. |
Fiji for me. It is the best! YOu can usually get it on sale at one of the supermarkets....
|
I drink Dasani.
Dr. Ruth had done a commercial for Dasani a few years ago. When she took a sip, very buff young men came out and surrounded her. I am still hoping that will happen to me :D I may be married, but I could still enjoy the scenery :D |
Aqua Panna but in every day life I drink Arrowhead.
|
I prefer Fiji when I have the cash, Arrowhead when I don't, and don't particularly care for the taste of any of the French waters.
|
Chateldon, Volvic, Evian.
|
I had forgotten about Volvic. That is my water-of-choice when in France.
|
Volvic is excellent! And cheap in France. About a €1 or €1,50 a 1.5 litre bottle.
I like the light bubbles in Badoit. I'm very fortunate to live in the Oakland, CA area where we have EBMUD as our water utility. Our tap water is great! related discussion: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...ighlight=water |

No bottled h20 or filters here -- no need.
|
Again - no need here in MEL for bottled water, but while living in London I drank Evian - it has a distinct and unmistakable taste. Haven't tried Fuji. Volvic to me tastes a bit, well, volcanic?

I like Fiji (which I still get sometimes, can be had in local grocery stores or Target if I feel like splurging) and Vittel (which I got mainly in Europe although I've had it occasionally in a US airport, I think....)
For general drinking though I'll pick up a Dasani, and I usually have those around at home. It isn't the same as a spring water, but the various spring waters that turn up in the stores have inconsistent taste, sometimes an off taste that others don't care about but I won't like at all. Dasani is consistently okay for me and cheap. Aquafina, Pepsi's competitor product, has had at least sometimes when I drank it a somewhat off taste I didn't like. After a bike ride or such, any water that's not what has been cooked for a while in my water bottle tastes pretty good. ;) |
If we're including flavored waters in this discussion, then chalk one up for :-: Propel :-: . It is sooooooooo much better than any of the other flavored waters out there!
If we are only talking about water-flavored water, then I will drink Fiji if I am splurging, Dasani if I am not, but tap water most frequently. My understanding is that bottled water contains no flouride, so I drink tap for that reason. Vos is good too, but makes Fiji look like a bargain! |
I like Evian. I have taken that water for years! It's a habit--no real difference with other waters--apart from the label! ;)
|
Aquafina for me.
|
self bottled Roman tap. ;)
|
Refilled Hawaiian tap water for me when at home. But, Fiji water when on vacation in Vegas and everything is comp. ;)
|
In Japan
Evian Vittel Flying From Elsewhere Fiji (if available) Kampai, Klaxon :p |
Not too easy to find in US anymore but may be making a come back FERRARELLE
|
If it has to be bottled, I like Poland Spring
Best tap water i'd say would be in Maine and Switzerland. |
When at home it's Severn Trent's finest treated tap water - if i'm in a bar or restaurant it would be a Sparkling mineral with a preference for San Pellegrino for still water I like Vittel

A bottle of cold Wahaha sure makes a blazing hot and dusty summer afternoon in Beijing more bearable :)
|
Fiji whenever I can (mostly at home), otherwise Crystal Geyser when in California. I used to be able to get Fiji at UT, but now I've been drinking Dasani at school.

Fiji seems to hold the edge here on popularity thus far.
As I hadn't tried it yet, I bought a six pack of 1 liter bottles at Cost Plus World Markets today in Southern CA. They seemed a little pricey at $9.95 for the six-pack. It works out to about $1.65 per liter. Is this a good price or should I shop around in the future?? Thanks.... |

You wouldn't know it from the 200 different empty water bottles in my office. :D But, I rarely buy one a second time. I fill a glass at the big jug in the break room at work and buy gallon jugs of store brand for the home. Local water most places I have lived has been foul tasting at least part of the year. 30 years ago, I added a filter to my faucet and was grossed out at how swiftly it collected green stuff. I never tasted anything funny, but prefer my green stuff served on a plate. |
For still water my preference is Panna
For sparkling, Vichy Catalan is my favorite...very heavy, distinct mineral content. As far as I know it is unavailable in the US, however. |

I'm just finishing up my first liter of Fiji and I have to admit I'm not overly impressed. It just kinda tastes like.........water. :o  My favorites up 'till now have been Volvic, Ozarka and Dasani. But I may have to re-think Volvic after this report. |

I think Poland Spring is similar, but by the time it gets trucked to Florida it tastes like "essence of plastic bottle". I tried some at EWR, figured it was fresher, and it was similar to the Zephyrhills. I bought a really tasty local water at NRT, will have to check if I wrote down what kind it was. Might have been Fuji. Comes in a square shaped bottle. Don't know if it is exported, but if you travel thru NRT pick some up at the convenience shop. I usually bring a few pint bottles of the best local bottled water home from around the world. Great presents for my H2O snob friends, something they can never get locally. Cheap present too. But no wonder my carry on is so heavy. :D |
Germans typically drink carbonated water: Perrier, Apollinaris, San Pellegrino, and the like. They all taste yuk! to me. I prefer Evian, Vittel, and Aqua Panna. I don't believe Fiji water is all that great, and in general I am opposed to transporting water half way around the world, and paying $2/liter. So I try to stick with the local stuff -- Best West Coast water: Earth2O.
