Where else can you get Macaroni and Cheese pancakes that actually taste incredible? And oh my...how about the Slutty Cakes. Nothing like them IMO :)

No wonder I've never been there--just looking at the menu leaves me paralyzed with indecision! ;)

Actually, O'Rourke's Diner in Middletown, Ct has a pretty amazing brunch menu, too--something like 8 pages, half of the items named after regulars, etc. The combinations aren't quite as weird, though. Can't comment on their pancakes, however, as I am not much of a pancake eater.

Denny's - any of their 784 locations... as long as you don't get assaulted or shot.

A must for any pancake lover is the restaurant at the DeLeon Springs State Park in Florida, north of Orlando. They give you the batter (various kinds) and you make them yourself at your table. Truly excellent pancakes.

Of all places, I also remember Alaska in general having very good sourdough pancakes. It seemed like many of the breakfast restaurants competed on their pancakes, with claims like using ancient "starter" and such. At the moment, I can't remember my favorite, but I don't think I've ever had a bad plate of sourdough pancakes in Alaska.

But the uniforms there freak me out.

Has anyone else been to this one: <4. Griddle Cafe - West Hollywood, Calif. Catch young celebs ordering Kahlua buttermilk pancakes.>? I'm thinking of trying it. Thx.

Totally agree. The pancakes there are excellent. Would also add that The Pancake House in Beckley, WV has superb hotcakes.

As for Eggs-n-Things in Honolulu, I found it very overrated. Mediocre pancakes (ditto for other food), poor service, and very expensive for what you got.

I *do* enjoy the Original Pancake House's german pancake, but I have tasted six or so other varieties and found them all to be average.

First Awakenings in Monterey....now THAT's yummy! They were featured on Rachael Ray's $40 a Day show, I believe. Great waffles too.

I dig the blueberry germ pancakes at Stacks in the Bay Area...those flapjacks are HUGE! One covers a dinner size plate!

Just went to Griddle Cafe in West Hollywood. Very good pancakes, particularly considering how big they are (i.e., not too "bready"). Got the apple, pecan, caramel ones--very good, with real maple syrup. Make sure you get the short stack. The tall stack is much too much for one person to eat (as, sadly, is the short stack).

Another vote for the original pancake house. I adore their 49er flapjacks. Yum!
