In the town of Sonoma, Cafe la Haye is excellent. There is also a Portuguese place called La Salette, where we've had a couple terrific meals. Sitting at the bar there is alot of fun; you get to see the head chef manning the wood-fired oven. A little different from the usual Calif. wine country fare.

Sonoma County Eats
There is a very good, quant restaurant in Healdsbur (about 15-20 min north of Santa Rosa) called "Ravenous." Outstanding food and you can catch a movie at the local cinema house "The Raven" next door.
On a weeked you should call ahead, for sure, as they only have a few tables (six?).

Great article of relevance in today's NYTimes Dining Out Section. Mentions a lot of the same places mentioned here.

Much repetition from the NY Times piece, but still ... nice to see Healdsburg getting its due, although I may not be saying that in a few years when the prices skyrocket, and it becomes the next "it" place. Or maybe we'll be talking in another decade or so about how we knew Healdsburg "back then."
