Amber Hong kong

- Asked for a drink who never arrived
- Asked for no meat, no chicken, and the waiter was about to serve .me a dressing with chicken..
- No alternative dressing offered.
‎- keep the worst for the end : they put some kind of meat in a dish. They first told me it was fish and then admitted it was meat and it was a kitchen mistake
‎I left in the middle of the meal.‎
‎Certainly not part of the best restaurant but may run for the worst / most overrated with no customer service / no attention to details.

Thatīs disgusting. I asked for a pescarian meal in a (normal) restaurant and got a soup with some nice pieces of minced beef inside. I was angry, at Amber I would be out of control

Sorry to hear your bad experience.
Seems that the service went down there (also had an average experience at the lmo spa)

To be fair, a good number of the comments were excoriating the fact that Pete Wells gets to spend north of $700/person on dinner.

As for the food - I've only been once, and it was excellent. That said, of the 3-star Michelins in NYC, it would not be my top choice, and certainly not at its current price point.

I'm late to the game-just read the review last night. I agree, wouldn't go back (been twice and enjoyed them both) for the prix fixe. Honestly, it pisses me off that they charge for foie gras and caviar upgrade.

I'm heading back to NYC just for one night in early March and am planning on Jean-Georges for lunch. Can't get over the "inexpensive" menu, food is still great too, IMO.

For their credit, I had a nice e-mail and they did investigate and provide some explanations. Appreciate their efforts
Also an offer for a free meal. so.... what about a FT DO there:D:D:D

Yes salad dressing with chicken Inside
don't you put some sort/kind of chicken on your salad dressing ? :D:D

They brought me the check for about half the price (for about half the meal eaten), I was about to charge to my room and the same person who brought me the check told me that I don't need to pay.

yes very true : service recovery is part of service.

While the situation was not handled well on the spot, it was handled very well afterward by the Director. They may have read the book "a complain is a gift".

Does service usually "bad" or "less good" during Chinese new year ?

Kagehitokiri Feb 11, 2016 11:25 am

so no charge, yet you said "no customer service" ? ;)

As I stated earlier in this thread, we spent a few days in London during which we ate at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, Gordon Ramsay and The Ledbury. Here's how I'd rank them, and a few comments:

1. The Ledbury
Distinct but relaxed service paired with outstanding food & wine. We had four courses, plus an extra dessert, all of which were amazing. All three of the amuse-bouches were fun and tasted fantastic. The two bites after the meal were equally satisfying. The best meal I've had so far, and a must for anyone visiting London.

2. Gordon Ramsay
Attentive service with great food & wine. The food here was amazing, but not quite as exciting as at The Ledbury and the same goes for the wine. The experience is very special, and the staff was all very professional and friendly. The sommelier helped pick out very good wines, but they felt a little safe at times. Of note, however, was the Gewurztraminer paired with the custard tart.

3. Dinner by Heston Blumenthal
A very good experience as well, but it felt like something entirely different compared to the other two restaurant we visited. All courses we had were very good, and the theatre of having ice cream made at the table was fun with the narration provided by our server. I have had better food at 1 star restaurants, and was expecting more.

Why would you call it "very special"? Just curious.....

I was referring to the styled of the service. It's not special compared to other similar restaurants, perhaps, but compared to the other restaurants we visited, it felt very special having the staff circling the tables the way they did.

I should also mentioned that our server at The Ledbury called Gordon Ramsay "the perfect restaurant."

OK, I woudnīt call it perfect, but glad you enjoyed. Service was fine during my visit, but not especially memorable. Neverless a good Restaurant, perhaps I try it next time with itīs new chef.

No, I wouldn't either, but it was fun to hear him say it.

Restaurant Andre from Singapore has a sister location in his motherland (Taipei, Taiwan). His restaurant in Taipei is called RAW. Super hard to secure a booking... I called Visa Infinite Concierge to see if they can get me a reservation.
