Steph58: You need to get to our so-called "gourmet ghetto" in Walnut Creek. Lots of good independent restaurants.

There's also a farmers market every Saturday on Main Street in Pleasanton until 1:00 p.m.
Only staying Friday night thru Sunday morn. so will only visit a few wineries.

The Farmers market sounds right up our alley. Is it still there every Saturday morn? What time does it beging? Is it on the streets, as I've seen in some towns?

Here's some restaurants I'm familiar with and would recommend in Livermore:

Mexican - Near Downtown Livermore - Casa Orozco on L St.
Steak - I580 @ Airport - Cattleman's
Italian - Downtown Livermore - Bruno's Italian Cuisine (2133 First St.)
Coffee - Downtown Livermore - Panama Bay Coffee (2115 1st St.)

For lunch, I'm partial to a Polish w/Sauerkraut and soda at Costco (I580 @ Airport) for $1.50.

I thot that was FUNNY! I'm with you, the Costco lunch is a bargain, and good too!
Thanks for the tips, Bruno's sounds good, as does the coffee place.

My wife and I both thot that was hilarious!
I'm going to try the pork chop you mentioned. It sounds good.

I know--if it were up to me we'd always drive to Walnut Creek, but it's like getting my husband to go to the moon to eat! When I go out to eat with friends and for special occasions, we make the "long" 20-minute drive up there!

The Pleasanton Farmers Market opens at 9:00 a.m. every Saturday and definitely ends promptly at 1:00. It's not huge but fun to visit, then after you can walk around Main Street--a nice ambiance. It's at the intersection of Main Street and West Angela (you can't miss it). I usually turn on Abbie Street and park in the lot on the left just on the other side of the railroad tracks.
