One place I really like is gora at Calle Seplveda 76 near Plaa Espanya.
It's new and not yet known even to locals but it surely has its flair. Some things on the menu are most surprising. If you are an adventurous eater the Foie Gin Tonic has to be a must!!!

Strolling down memory lane........
25 years ago this month, was my first trip to Europe. Was traveling on a college student's budget, but splurged in Barcelona to eat at Los Caracoles.
For some reason I remember the restaurant like it was last week, but couldn't tell you about any other place I ate in a 22 day trip. How is this restaurant regarded, now in 2004?

I was there a couple weeks ago and our host took us to two places. I forget the name of the lunch place, it was near the university and in a back courtyard behind a very cheap looking restaurant in the front. It was very nice, and excellent food however. For dinner he took us to a place right down by the harbor, very near or in the old walled part of the city. I believe it was 7 Portes. It featured Catalan food and we have exquisite paella and an assortment of appetizers. Some excellent wines (Torres) as well. I would highly recommend it.
