Free Ice Cream!
I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Free Ice Cream!
Baskin-Robbins serves up free scoops
Nothing motivates people to get off their couch and turn off their televisions more than a free scope of ice cream.
And, Wednesday, April 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. Baskin-Robbins will put this theory to the test as they celebrate their fifth annual "Free Scoop Night". More than 200 scoops per second are expected to be given away to an anticipated 3 million hungry customers.
"Last year we gave away over 3.2 million scoops of ice cream, it was great," says Maria Feicht, director of brand excitement at Baskin-Robbins. "This is our way of thanking all our loyal customers and communities."
Free Scoop Night has also become a favorite event for Baskin-Robbins' employees who get a chance to connect with one another and their customers. Wondering who is going to be doing all that scooping Wednesday evening? Everyone in the company from the chief brand officer on down is encouraged to participate.
"On this night we function under 'all hands on deck' policy. There is a lot of internal excitement surrounding Free Scoop Night and we get support from everyone in the company, including the corporate side and our sister company Dunkin Donuts," says Feicht. "There aren't too many people who don't like to be associated with ice cream, and our employees jump at the chance to make so many people happy. Everyone smiles when they get ice cream."
In addition to giving out 3 million frosty smiles, as part of the event, the Randolph, Massachusetts-based company will give back to the community with a donation to First Book, a non-profit company that gives books to children who can't afford them. To date they have donated over 1 million books through this program.
If you are worried about them running out of your favorite flavor, don't. According to Feicht they have forecasted well every year and have never sent customers away without. Yum.

Thanks. I went to the one by the field just after our baseball game and then to the other one near my house. But since we lost the game in the bottom of the last inning, 7-6, it did take a little bit of the fun out of going twice.
