The best frog legs are not found in a restaurant. During my teen years friends and I would get up around two am and head out to local lakes or creeks to go gigging. We would take the gig, flashlights, a sharp knife, a rifle (for the occasional snake), a mixture of flour, cornmeal (2-1) black pepper, garlic salt and onion salt, hot sauce, crisco and a cast iron skillet.

We would gig a mess of frogs, clean and cook them. We would eat them as the sun rose and then head to school.

Now that's good eating or maybe I'm just longing for that "lost youth" :D

Definitely good eating, kind of like the best fish I ever have is when I’ve caught it, cleaned it and cooked it myself. Only lost youth if you don’t do it anymore!

When i was a kid, my grandpa would take us to his cabin in upstate New York where we would get out or flashlights and go frog hunting in the evening. We'd get back, skin them up and have ourself a feast.

I'm another who used to order them whenever I saw them, in fact I remember ording them at Nathan's in Time Square once. Haven't seen them anywhere is a long time. Maybe it is time for a trip to France!

I used to do the same thing as a kid. Probably just because it sounded so gross. They were delicious, though, even to a six year old. I have no recent experience, though. I guess the novelty wore off a long time ago.

I loved eating frog legs when I lived in Indonesia. Compared to any others in the menu, it's an expensive dish. They taste better than chicken!
