Was rather ridiculous but due to current erratic LH flight cancellations , ended up having a Michelin star lunch 5 hours upon landing , in a jet lagged state .
Nonetheless , enjoyed it tremendously .

Some photos to recall what we had . Nothing like savouring a meal with an ex - Aman executive chef ;) .. flying in for the day !
No desserts at lunch , as that was from their Burnt Ends Bakery at the side of the restaurant & with separate entrance - how strategic .. how could one resist a box of .. to bring home to taste leisurely rather than just one dessert :) , the one item hoping for was already sold out .. might as well share with the world here - it is their popular coffee doughnut .. might delete this when not jet lagging

We had to cancel Claude Bosi (and lose our deposit) because of flight problems. We managed to book the Ledbury for next week. They still have a vegetarian menu.

AA delayed our 10:40 flight to 19:00, which would have meant arriving in London at 7:00 the morning of the meal rather than the night before, so we re-scheduled the flight. A lovely meal after little sleep didn't seem a good idea.

These spate of flight cancellations and delays have been a bane . Pity about missing Claude Bosi , richarddd .

Good thing Burnt Ends lunch worked out , it was like having breakfast for me being on Marrakech time , and enjoyed the chef ‘ s table .

Then managed another splendid meal ,it was another huge seafood dinner which included another FTer .

Then a couple days later was lunch at Les Amis . More on this later

Just found this forum after a couple of months here on Flyertalk. It seems like there are only a few US-based users on this channel so I wanted to give my two cents on some restaurants I've tried.

In terms of cities: SF > NYC > San Diego > Shanghai. Never been to Chicago but have been wanting to try Ever and Alinea, in terms of the cities I have been to, I'm not sure if SF > NYC is a controversial opinion but I dislike the certain direction restaurants in NYC are heading in like EMP, Daniel or Le Bernardin.

My least Favorite would probably be Benu, it's unoriginal, corporate, and some of the items (century egg) are perplexing and served to just confuse Westerners. Personally, I dislike Angler the food is okay but I don't think it deserves one star, it just seems to be any expensive restaurants you find in Scottsdale or any rich city that use expensive ingredients and makes themselves look fancy. It has no story and seems like a bland faceless restaurant. Funny story about Sons and Daughters, my mom found a live caterpillar on her salad leading her to shriek and all the wait staff came over to the table to remove the dish before she could take a picture, so at least the wait staff seems to be very attentive. Ultraviolet (Shanghai) is unique in the innovation and technology used, but it feels more like a gimmick and the food is subpar compared to other French Michelin outside of China.

My favorite restaurant was probably the Modern. Eggs on Eggs on Eggs was probably my favorite amuse-bouche, the menu was similar to any other one you'd see in NYC, but the location in the MOMA and being able to meet Thomas Allan made it a restaurant that I have always wanted to go back to. Before it lost its star, I really liked Octavia in SF. I thought it was a nice celebration of unpretentious non-set menu food that was not based off of the French gastronomy you often see at Michelin star restaurants. It showed that 1 star can just be very good food without the Instagrammable art. For San Diego, Sushi Tadokoro was the only Michelin-starred sushi that I have had and the omakase bar seating was very nice. In terms of the best San Diego restaurant, I preferred it over the French restaurant Juene et Jolie in Carlsbad.

Going to be in Paris for the first time at the end of July. So far have Le Clarence booked for dinner and L'Arpege booked for lunch. First time doing fine dining with a 1 y/o so shooting for shorter menus rather than 10 courses 2.5/3hrs+. Also made requests for Septime, Juveniles, and Frenchies. Not sure if Juveniles and Frenchies might be too small of a space to be comfortable eating with a baby though... Would love to get any suggestions for what else to add to my list that's (relatively) baby friendly.

No idea if they’re baby friendly and I haven’t been there for a while but the prix fixe lunch at Pierre Gagnaire used to be a fantastic deal and a great experience.

This is a wild ask: Having a hard time getting a 1-person table reservation at the Fat Duck (UK), not available on tock and emails said wait til last-minute and rare, has anyone had any luck? Anyone wants to go eat there together end of Sept (we will each pay our own bill obv)? We can screen each other on a call or something to make sure we are both legit and respectful individuals who can eat together...

Has anyone had any luck with DiverXO waitlists? Saw the Somebody Feed Phil on Madrid and definitely want to check it out now but they're sold out for the day I'll be in town.

Had a meal at Moody Tongue in Chicago tonight. It absolutely lived up to its two stars. I rarely have a tasting menu where every dish is utterly impeccable but it this was the happy exception. The beer pairing was good but not transformative - luckily it was only $60. Highlights today were the uni shumai dumpling, foie gras dippin dots, butter poached langostine, and black truffle donut hole. If you are in Chicago and have already gone to Alinea and Smyth I'd go to Moody Tongue.

Looking for a third Michelin meal in Paris in addition to Le Clarence (dinner) and l'Arpege (lunch) for the end of the month. Looking for a more casual and cheaper option that isn't as long/doesn't have as many courses. I currently have Frenchie booked but also considering Abri or any other options that fit the bill. Going to be with a 1 y/o so restaurant needs to be OK with that and ideally not too tiny of a place. Thanks!

Had two utterly unremarkable dinners at Cranes (insanely overpriced for at best mediocre food, and service was not good) and Zaytinya (better food & service, but also overpriced for what is an average middle eastern restaurant).

But also had a fantastic meal & service at Rooster & Owl, which I'd recommend to anyone in a heartbeat. Excellent service with the waiter going over every dish in detail and checking in on us all the time, took excellent care when it came to dietary restrictions, and some of the juiciest and most tender lamb I've had in recent memory.

I think Alinea will feel like Ultraviolet. You are there for the performance. While each dish tastes good, it feels like they are in the supporting role to the story the chef is telling.

I actually really like Daniel. For NYC, highly recommend Cote and Jua. Mixed feeling about Aska and Odo. Definitely avoid Estela (okay food, but bad attitude).

Will check out Le Bernardin (along with Atomix, Kochi, Wallse, Casa Enrique, Rezdora) next month.

I love KBBQ and have heard great reviews about Cote, but I feel like in principal there's no such thing as Michelin-Starred KBBQ. IDK I just feel like KBBQ shouldn't be rated "like that" even though I can't explain why I'm not a fan. Same with Jeju Noodle, just feels like Michelin doesn't know how to rate Asian food outside of omakase.

You should try, if you haven't already, Jean - Georges or Aquavit, during my visit to NYC I heard great reviews about both of those and Modern and went with the Modern instead. I have been always wondered if I messed out on something great.
