Salad Bars, a thing of the past?
Maybe it's my Midwest roots, but I love salad bars in restaurants, the kind that have every concievable thing from soup to nuts (literally) but they seem to be a dieing breed. Does anyone know of some good restaurants with great salad bars other than Sizzler or Fresh Choice?

Sizzler has had serious financial problems the last few years. Their recent advertising campaigns seem to focus on entrees (such as upgraded beef) rather than salad bars.
Wonder if this is a product of changing consumer tastes, or the massive product waste that is inherent in salad bar presentations?
BTW, if you are ever in Beverly Hills, check out "RJ's". Now that is a quality salad bar!

Yes, I actually hold some Sizzler stock, sadly!
It seems to have lost its sizzle!
FWIW, folks tend to seemingly just gravitate to the newset Steakhouse around these last few decades!
Perhaps some folks do not like the food just sittin' out there! I rarely go to a salad bar but once a year or so, and yet I have a salad of some kind pretty much every day!

As a New Yorker we hear so many horror stories about salad bars, esp. the ones in every corner deli, that I tend to avoid them no matter where they are.
I also, back in high school, used to work at an upscale grocery store in the produce/salad bar dept. I could tell you some horror stories of my own. And, I'd have to say that we were A LOT better than the other salad bars in town.
