Looking for the best manual can opener

I don’t like electric can openers. So don’t suggest one.

We moved into a fully furnished and equipped home 3 years ago. It has 5 can openers. Only one is worth a darn. It is completely unmarked and unlabeled. I would like a back up. Price is no object. Okay, within reason. No $1,000 gold plated openers.

Just find a padded-handle one with good reviews on Amazon, Bed Bath, or Walmart. I have an old Swing-A-Way which works fine, but you can also find versions by OXO, KitchenAid, Farberware and lesser-known manufacturers. They all seem to be rated between 4 and 5 stars.

If you want one with an integrated bottle opener, be sure to check the specifications for that feature.

I like the Pampered Chef can opener. Mines lasted for years and still no sharp edges on cans. Still glides easily.

Thanks. I have 4 manual openers. I would judge three of them to be mediocre even though they are all brand names that score ratings of 4+. I want that elusive 4.9.

No need for a bottle opener if my keys are handy.

Is it worth $28? That sounds a bit pricey to me. I too have the old school swing away and it can be hard to use sometimes and seems to not want to go that extra 1/8" at the end. I don't open a lot of cans but maybe I should splurge on the Pampered Chef one.
Why can't they make all cans a pull tab?

It’s lasted for years so I would say yes. It still easily slides, it does the edgeless cut, and the feature that pulls the lid off is nice. Plus pampered chef stuff is actually warranted.

We got this one from Amazon for $12 and it's great

"Whether you’re opening a can of tuna or a bottle of beer, a reliable can opener gets the job done fast. After cutting into 150 cans with 25 can openers since 2014, we recommend the EZ-Duz-It. It's an inexpensive, no-frills opener that securely latches onto cans and cuts through their lids with ease. And since it’s so durable, we’re confident it will last you for years to come."

Amazon rating is 4.6 with thousands of reviews. It’s on its way to my home. Thank you.

It absolutely is worth it. I love mine. You may be able to find one on eBay or Mercari or Facebook marketplace for less.

Oxo grip. I don’t understand how your 3-5 manual can openers can suck.

I got my parents a cool single-arm can opener at the local grocery store a while back. It cuts into the side of the can so there aren't sharp edges.

It is a jerky-jerky process that splashes tuna juice all over the counter and floor. I am looking for smooooooooth. I did look at a couple that operated with a handle like we used to use to crank the car windows up and down. I’ll go there next if what I ordered isn’t perfect.

Did you notice the amazon description on this? Here it is: lol
  • Set includes: Travel Case and Feeding Spoon
  • Compact case fits easily into diaper bags and handbags for on-the-go meals
  • Silicone Spoon is soft on baby’s mouth and gums and effective for scraping food from bowls, jars or messy faces
  • Spoon is shaped for easy scooping
  • Shallow Spoon head prevents feeding too much at once
  • Contoured Spoon handle is angled for easy feeding
  • Dishwasher safe, top rack
Anyway...some reviews say no sharp edges and some say that there are sharp edges. The no sharp part is what attracted me to the $28 one. I guess I will trust your review and get this one.

This gross photo isn't making me want to run out and buy one. What the bleep is that? And it looks dirty and rusty.
