The hardest part about trying to not drink weekdays and drink less weekends is when traveling. Seemingly everyone around me gets alcohol with their PDB and once up in the air and at the lounges, especially ones like the Centurion, everyone is drinking. It's so easy to get one too as it's "free" and weekday business travel is boring.

I plan to start Dry January on January 2 and running a mile every day from January 1-31 and perhaps even longer. I haven't been as strict in 2023 about intermittent fasting, but I still do it about 5 or 6 days a week--and I'll continue that plan into 2024.

I woke up yesterday morning with vertigo (BBPV) and laid in bed until this afternoon. Still very woozy this evening. I'm pushing Dry January and running a back a week.

Not that I’m an expert and had never heard of BBPV but when I google that plus alcohol, it does say that BBPV and alcohol doesn’t mix well and you’re advised against drinking so I’d start dry January earlier than later.

To be fair, I didn't need alcohol because it felt like I was drunk for days (through last Thursday). I didn't drink alcohol from 12/30 until this past weekend (small serving of my homemade glgg on Saturday night); I also enjoyed a cocktail last night, so maybe I need to switch it to Damp January. I still cannot shake off this vertigo completely to get on the treadmill. It's been very frustrating.

I've had no alcohol since NYE which, is the longest stretch without imbibing in as long as I can remember. Do I feel better? Hard to tell. Will i go indefinitely without alcohol? Unlikely. However, I may see out January.

I'm not one for a set period of abstinence of anything which usually results in counting the days until the time is up and then binging. Moderating consumption has been our path and we've gone from a nightly routine of a pre-dinner cocktail and a bottle of wine with our meal to wine at dinner only on the weekends. Initially I'd get an urge for a drink around dinner time but it would quickly pass and after a couple of weeks those urges went away entirely.
What we have done however is upped our wine game considerably with better vintages that we enjoy more. Better wine but less of it is how we roll.

My breaks are typically M-Th, weekly.
