Very "in" right now. They were delicious.

Dinner was the "slim's meal" from Slim Chickens. I haven't had a chance to go grocery shopping this week, so some fried chicken and french fries sounded good...and it was! Back to my usual salads and healthy foods next week :p

Yeah the corn ribs is a trip. New for me. Definitely never imagined that kind of dish!

Chicken vindaloo with basmati rice and a naan sampler plate.

Broken down Costco roasted chicken with some yellow curry powder mix in a frying pan (think improvised chicken shawarma) into a few pitas with cucumber, shredded ice berg and tomatoes. Tahini-ed and hot oil to taste.

Rice pudding and persimmons for dessert.

Sounds like the chicken was not successful crossing the road.

LOL, nope. But at least it wasn't flattened like so many of its brethren in Taiwan.

I made the “marry me chicken” from the NYT Cooking app this evening. It’s chicken with some tomato paste and a bit of heavy crème which makes a nice sauce. Paired with a spinach salad and a storm chaser IPA.

Based on the description, isn't this really just a variation on butter chicken? Or am I missing something?

As it stands from the recipe, it wasn't as heavy on the spices (though I added some hot pepper flakes -- 40,000 heat units -- to the dish to zing it up). But pretty close to butter chicken without any hint of curry, etc.

Marry me Chicken does not have grated ginger, cumin, turmeric, smoked paprika, garam masala and chili powder, which are common in Butter Chicken recipes. Instead, this Marry me Chicken recipe calls for oregano, red pepper flakes, sun-dried tomatoes, parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves. Despite both recipes having tomato (sauce or passata for Butter, paste Marry Me) and cream, the flavor profiles are quite different.

Dinner with a friend from college at Da Toscano in Manhattan - the focaccia was delicious, braised artichoke not pictured, and I enjoyed the balsamic tortellini and my friend’s lamb stuffed pasta (first time trying lamb).

That would make more sense. Would be an interesting taste based on this description.

I am reading this in in my best Julia Child voice. Yum
I don't even know how to reduce which is why mine are always gigantic.

Quick fried rice.... rice, eggs (mixed in as well as scrambled), chinese sausage, gailan stalks (no leaves) and some baby clams (would have liked cockles but at $23/lbs (and taxes on top of that), too rich for my blood. I should figure out how to raise them... could make a mint....

Costco here almost always has the cockles very reasonable. I think around $8-9/lb., but not the clams for many years. I want the clams, not the cockles! :)

Our Costcos only have mussels regularly. Occasionally they might have fresh jarred oysters, but not always. I've only seen cockles at one place... But they must be selling as they have had them for a while.

Now if only I can figure out how to make SEA style oyster omelette... That mix keeps eluding me.
