UAL trav

if you don't know about The French Laundry in Yountville you might want to do a search (hint restaurant) regarding "tongue and cheek"
On the other end of the spectrum from this food discussion.

It's been a while, but I definitely endorse Fatburger.

Honorable mention to Winstead's in the Kansas City area.

Yes, yes, yes... Fatburger over IN & OUT anytime for me please.

I surely, surely do wish there were an In-N-Out Burger here. I surely do.

I am a checkers fan myself!

chobby100 Mar 31, 2005 4:17 am

Personally I think Checkers is vile. (I ate there way too much while on an extended stay in florida for a little election problem a few years ago. Could be that little trip that soured me on checkers :( )

In-n-Out on the other hand is great. I made this the only must do on a mileage run to LA a little over a year ago. (It was a seven hour trip to LA highlighted by In-n-Out). I really do love their food.

I agree. For me, every trip to LA has to include a trip to In 'N Out. A few of my trips to SF have even included a visit to one near Fisherman's Wharf.

Locally, Steak and Shake has the best burger. I also like Fatburger, but the closest one to me is in Clearwater since the one in Tampa (International Plaza) closed. It was probably because of the TERRIBLE service. The kids who worked there always made you feel bad for troubling them with an order, when they weren't too busy taking a break in the back. It never was quite as good as the Fatburger on Santa Monica Blvd., anyway.

I never really liked In-N-Out either. I REALLY don't like their fries - am I the only one?

Dugernaut Mar 31, 2005 6:42 am

The Burgers are the best in my opinion for a fast food joint. I agree that the fries leave something to be desired.

pdhenry Mar 31, 2005 11:06 am

French fries need to be twice-fried to get the combination of soft insides and crispy outsides. IIRC, INO cooks fresh fries one time, cut directly from a raw potato into the fryer. It makes for a fresh product but it really isn't the optimum cooking method.

I agree that the fries are weak but their burgers are amazing.. best fast food burger I've ever had.

I've had good burgers, but not at a fast food joint.

Amen. Only 31 more days.

In-N-Out Burger is SO 2001.

techgirl Mar 31, 2005 4:39 pm

Love In-N-Out but the best burgers anywhere are made by Kincaids.

Once a one-joint establishment, they are now opening one about five minutes from DFW so I know where I will be dragging all my friends who connect through here to go eat there.
