Does anyone here like beetroot on their sandwiches?

I do not like beets to begin within and let alone on a sandwich.

I've never tried it. I would want it sliced thinner than the beets I buy in jars. Is it seasoned in any way?

Beets taste like dirt.

There is nothing, and I truly mean nothing, nastier than beets. I can not even look at a plate, much less devour food, in close proximity to them.
I'd rather place slimy okra on a sandwich than beets.

They both make fine pickles.

Lima beans are to me what beets are to you. And I don't think you'd want to pickle them.

Try washing them. :D

There are many tasty ways to fix beets. I prefer them roasted with sweet onion or cooked, chilled and served in orange sauce.


It is hard to explain the absolute vileness of lima beans to those who do not understand. The waxy sliminess, the gag inducing flavor, the way they contaminate anything on the same plate. My parents were of the "eat what you're served" school of thought, but even they could not make me eat lima beans, or even anything that had been on the same plate. (where is the little green gagging emoji?)

I agree. Pickled beets are like an entirely different thing. I don't see the point of putting them on a sandwich, however. But then, I don't hve a problem with beets period. :D

Okra better than beets? Oh hell no. Okra is like eating phlegm.
I don't like beets but somehow could occasionally eat a small bowl of my mom's homemade borscht with a ton of sour cream.
But neither should be within a mile of a sandwich and I don't care what they are pickled in.

I absolutely love lima beans, especially the baby green ones. Never understood the hate. Beets however are vile in all forms.

Mr. Kipper would probably make a beet and lima bean sub and try it.

Purple pasta - it looked terrible but tasted okay.

I never used to like beets, but I'm seeing them on alot more restaurant menus lately and they're starting to grow on me, especially on salads. Now I actually like them, as long as they're pickled. I haven't tried them on a sandwich, but I bet it could work with something like a grilled chicken pita. Just don't put them directly on a soft bread without something like lettuce to keep the bread from becoming a soggy pink mess! I think they would also be a good addition to coleslaw, for taste and color on any burger or pulled pork sandwich.

Probably wouldn't mind it on a goat cheese sandwich.
