Historic Menus

The New York Public Library has a stack of old menus scanned in. Interesting to see changing trends and some of the more timeless items.

Looking at some of the cocktail menus from the 50's and 60's - everything old is certainly new again.

The older ones are hilarious. 1851 City Hotel. Long on meat, short on vegetables. Side dishes include mutton, tongue and calves feet.

I found a couple airline menus in there too. Ah, the good old days.

Thanks for posting this - very interesting. I wonder if they want more, by the way - I have a bunch stuffed in a box somewhere.

There is a restaurant here that had menus from Churchill, the Queen etc etc. They remodeled and I have no idea where they went.

It was fun reading them while waiting for the restroom.
