And don't forget most foods continue to go up in temp for a while after they are removed from the heat source.
Instant read thermometers take all the guesswork out of it. Must-haves. Add them to the list of best kitchen gadgets for this thread!

5 minutes after I read her post my inbox chimed with an order and shipping confirmation email from Amazon for a instant read thermometer.

You have to calculate this plus you have to compensate for longer cooking times when cooking two different items at once so it's really a crap shoot. Just pull out when you think it's done and poke it.
I don't have one so not sure what it can do but you air fried corn on the cob? Is yours like a toaster oven type or more of a free standing fryer. As far as recipes go, unless the recipe is specific for an air fryer you can likely reduce the cooking time by close to 10-20%. That['s how it is for convection ovens so I imagine similar for air fryers.

I used my MEATER wireless meat thermometer tonight for the first time. It’s fantastic. My only complaint is on me - I bought the basic level model with only 33 feet bluetooth range. My phone lost connection when I went into the next room, so I went back into the kitchen to leave my phone on the counter, and had to check the numbers every couple of minutes. It has an audible alarm, but I found fascination in watching the numbers change. Anyway, it’s a fun tool. (FYI, they’re 20% off right now for Father’s Day.)

Do you get to set the target temp or does it use preset ones based on the protein ?

You can customize or choose a preset.

(Sorry for the oversized photos. I had trouble resizing.)

Steps 1 and 2.

Steps 2 and 3 for Flank Steak. You can toggle a custom target temp or choose a preset.

The Cook screen for monitoring.
