Oh wow. Not in my neck of the woods, sadly. At least not that I've seen.

It's certainly available in the NYC-area too. Just check a bag next time...

I particularly liked sour plums (Hua Mei) in Hong Kong and miss them:

Last Summer, I asked an assistant in one of the P supermarkets, and he took me to the section offering products by Kelloggs, Nestlé and other chemical companies, which really annoyed me. Probably have to go to a street market for them.

The other thing I miss are Haw Flakes, made from the fruit of the Chinese hawthorn:

They also have become difficult to find in HK (no trouble in Beijing), because over the years Hong Kong has had its character progressively wiped away and the place has been sterilized. Shame.

Shenzhen has plenty of haw in convenience stores and hypermarkets too, just in case you're in HK and Beijing isn't in your sights.

Or, have you tried any of the New Territories local markets or even Korean markets?

Garibaldi biscuits from England. They used to sell them here as Sunshine Golden Fruit, but I think that ended in the 80s at some point.

Milka Choco Twist snack cakes. For all that Milka seems to be slowly expanding what they export to the USA, I haven't seen these over here unless you're willing to pay $20 per box on Amazon to have them personally shipped from Germany by a third party vendor. I have to be very lucky to find the Rittersport yogurt or rum raisin candy bars at a European importer, but it's possible once or twice a year.

I think I remember them from the 60's. I wasn't a big fan but occasionally indulged. Flat, raisin filled, maybe an egg wash on the top? Is that the product?

I remember discovering that drink (for myself) in Japan in the mid-2000s. My wife and I had the ongoing joke of "ion depletion" which required a trip to a vending machine.

Are there any Asian supermarkets in Durham? Good chance you'll be able to find it there.
