Though if you look at the list of "most expensive" it's really ridiculous. No one wants to drink a beer that's 57% ABV. (Ratebeer gives the Schorschbräu Schorschbock 57% a horrible rating, though it's suspect since there are 29 rates for a beer whose entire production run was 36 bottles.)
maybe searching most expensive european beer would limit.

If you want a sports bar and decent beer in the Harrisburg, PA area, Arooga's isn't bad. www.aroogas.com

two NYC articles >

$60 Baladin Xyauyu Barleywine, 2010, Italy (16.9oz/14%)

$29 Allagash Merveilleux 9.6 12oz. Bottle

Another NYC bar with a good beer list:

BTW, I am not really recommending this place - it is a real dive. You can walk by it numerous times and never think of walking in - but they do have an impressive selection of bottled beers.

Hard-to-get beers are becoming more and more common. I can think of several beloved IPAs which I can find, with some effort, maybe two or three times in a year:
Just Outstanding IPA
Citra IPA
Pliny The Elder
Blind Pig IPA
There are several liquor stores in my area which will only sell one bottle of any of the above per customer per visit.

Hate to come across as a beer snob, but before I visit any place to have a pint I usually check it out via Beermenus or BeerAdvocate. For example, a local favorite is the Bottle Room in Whittier, which also happens to be a place you can earn miles via rewardsnetwork. Not exactly centrally located, but you can't always have everything you want. Sometimes they are slow to update their BeerMenus tap list, so I'll ring them if I need something particular.
Another local (to SoCal) place that I favor is Beechwood BBQ, with two locations in Seal Beach and Long Beach.
There are many equivalents in SoCal, depending on how far you care to go.

Intuition - Bold City - and Green Room (all rated "outstanding") produce some of my husband's favorite IPAs. Note that this list isn't comprehensive. Because a lot of local restaurants have these local beers on tap. And they're sold at places like Publix as well. Robyn

My husband first encountered it in Houston - and bought some here at Total Wine. He likes it - but thinks it is too heavy for this time of year in Florida (would work better in cooler weather). Robyn

Same here in Chicago, though I've rarely made the effort except for Dark Lord. I'm lucky to have a few friends who pursue hard-to-find beers and are happy to share. [...] A friend who gave me tickets to the Midwest Belgian Beer Fest has indicated that he may also give me his beer suitcase and expect me to come home with it -- ugh, checked luggage -- filled with some gems that are expected to be released next Saturday.
Jet Bag
Jet Bag Absorbent
WineSkin Bag
Bottle Bully ("TSA approved")
Wine Safeguard
Anyway, in order to steer this thread back from the tangent, while I do love getting my drink on with Pliny, JO, and the other wonderful IPAs I mentioned previously, of late I have been drinking mass-quantities of Stone Go-To IPA. In fact, I'm sucking one down as I type this.
I'll be visiting a local cigar bar on Thursday this week, hoping to find some on tap.

I was thinking about starting a new thread to offer (and solicit) recommendations for great Craft Beer Bars, but I decided to try to resurrect this 2014 thread instead.
Since this thread was last updated, Untappd Verified Venues has become a great resource in this area, where it is often possible to check current tap-lists in close to real-time.
This, in turn, seems to have spurred many bars to publish and maintain their own current tap-lists on their websites (presumably, because they are unwilling to pay Untappd to do it for them)
I am based in the UK, but travel weekly to Scandinavia, so I am typically bouncing through one or two of the larger Cities in Sweden/Denmark/Norway/Finland each week.
I can highly recommend the following bars, for a great selection of craft beers:
Copenhagen
The Taphouse - 61 beertaps, mainly from Scandinavia, but with regular beers from across Western Europe
http://taphouse.dk/
Warpigs - Joint-venture brewhouse between Mikkeller and 3Floyds, which 24 taps plus very good BBQ food
http://mikkeller.dk/location/warpigs/
Fermentoren - cozy basement pub with 20 taps, mainly from Scandi and UK craft breweries
http://fermentoren.com/
Gothenburg
Brewers Beer Bar - modern pub with 16 taps, mainly local, with an excellent pizza menu to complement them!
https://brewersbeerbar.se/beers-wines/
Brewdog - chain pub with 18 taps, typically 10 house beers + 7/8 interesting guest beers. Also often have some excellent rare cans in the fridge. Serves decent pub food.
https://www.brewdog.com/bars/worldwide/goteborg
The Rover - large, welcoming pub, with 20 taps mainly local.
http://www.therover.se/
Oslo
Rřřr - Large pub with 70 taps from across Western Europe, plus several shuffleboard tables.
https://www.roor.no/
Crowbar - Very cool brewpub, with 18 taps including several guest beers
http://crowbryggeri.com/the-bar/
Stockholm
Omnipollos Hatt - Cool, but tiny pub, with 10 taps and a wood-fired pizza oven in the corner.
http://www.omnipolloshatt.com/
Mikkeller Bar - Very stylish basement bar with 24 taps, combining Mikkeller beers with interesting guests
http://mikkeller.dk/location/mikkeller-stockholm/
Where do you recommend.....?!

Couple places here in Phoenix:
-OHSO has a great local beer selection, about half of which are brewed in house. There's a new location in T2 (UA, AS) at PHX, but I think the full restaurant in Arcadia (about a 10-15 minute drive north of PHX) is much better if you have the time.
-Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company in Gilbert also has a selection of great beers brewed in house.

For anyone in Central Virginia area around Richmond/Fredericksburg Capital Ale House is a decent option.
Most of their locations have at least 50 different draughts that they rotate regularly and with hundreds more in bottles too. I used to live very close to one that had a great happy hour where you could get gold like Dogfish Head 90min IPA for $3. I stay by one of their locations on work trips to the Richmond area now.
