Costco alaskan salmon

although it only be coho, and 9 bucks a pound it is one fine fish. buy it 2 lbs at a time and make salmon cakes(like crab cakes less the crab, and insert salmon) out of the leftover half tomorrow. i prefer salmon cakes with chipotole lime mayo goo to the fresh grilled and to crab cakes.

It's good salmon for the price. Not quite as good as what you can get off the docks or from Jerry's (for the locals) but it satisfies.^

A cheaper alternative is wild steelhead.

Tastes almost the same as salmon, just as fatty oily and less than half the price.

I lived in Anchorage for a year, and that is where I bought salmon. Price/quality was unbeatable, IMHO.

Costco switches from wild to farmed salmon depending on the season. If you read the package it will say what kind it is.
