Ah, I've always preferred grapefruit over orange juice. Can't recall the last time I had eaten an actual grapefruit though, unless it was in a fruit bowl mix.

I prefer oranges every day, but pink grapefruit for breakfast. I don't really like regular or red grapefruits.
I prefer grapefruit juice to orange juice, which I find way too sweet.

Thank you for resurrecting a 9 year old thread. Where did all those people go?

I like ruby red grapefruit and California navel oranges best. But I grab a pink grapefruit off the neighbors tree every other day because it’s free and would otherwise go to waste.

How does the grapefruit compare to the Sour Oranges you experienced from the Grove near your home?

They are pink and not especially sweet. I suspect that fruit quality drops as the tree ages. This tree is most likely 45-50 years old. It’s a passable grapefruit but I would probably complain if it wasn’t free. The sour oranges made an excellent mojo for me and BV Jr #1 made a sour orange pie out of them (I shipped about 20 pounds of them out to Oregon). His wife invented a drink using the juice, earl grey tea, mulling spices and Woodford Reserve bourbon. They called it the Spiced Florida Man. I am due to harvest some more this week. I’m looking at making a salad dressing this time.

I like oranges better than grapefruit. I like grapefruit better than grapes. I like fruit better than no fruit.

Have you tried Cara Cara oranges? They are pink inside and way better than navel.
For all of you grapefruit lovers.....
cut a pink grapefruit in half and gently squeeze out a little of the juice. Put grapefruit on oven safe pan and pour a little vodka over (replaces the squeezed out juice). Sprinkle with brown sugar and put under the broiler to melt the sugar. You're welcome.

Both cara cara and blood oranges on sale this week at Winn Dixie. $3.99 for a 3 lb bag of cara cara oranges. I believe I will buy a bag of each.

This thread isn't about what you'll spend your money on, it is about what you'll put in your mouth ;)

I wouldn't buy a fruitcake I wouldn't eat. Why would you??

Yes. Yes. Yes. Grapefruit is far superior to Oranges. Just as limes are far superior to lemons.
