Do you pour to a glass? Or drink lips to the bottle. :D
Seriously, I'd never do lips to the bottle. That's just so uncivilized. :D |
Ever tried the Midleton Very Rare? Not cheap, but definitely good stuff ^

Bushmills every time, for me this is the best of our Irish whiskeys.
If you ever make it to the north coast of Northern Ireland call in at the factory and do the tour. |

Supid-expensive (but you get a nice box)! Not a lot of difference between that and the Jameson 18 - except price. My favorite run of the mill 6 yr old is Kilbeggan, by far. wj

Someone just offered me a healthy glass of 21 year old Bushmills and it was soooooooo good I had to post about it here. ;)

Last year, I picked up a bottle of Bushmill's "Single Malt" in the DUB duty free. It sat in the cabinet unsampled for many months, until noticed on chilly evening. Very rewarding and worth the price, which I recall as being "on sale", about $35 US.
In a heavy crystal "rocks" glass with just a splash of a decent "sin gas" bottled water seems best. |
Has anyone tried Green Spot? This feels like the smoothest Irish I've ever had.
Interesting history too. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Spot_(whiskey) |

Interesting history too. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Spot_(whiskey) I tried Red Spot and in the words of Colonel Sherman T Potter~ not enough o's in smooth. I saw Green Spot at Costco a while back $67-68 iirc. |
I enjoyed a Midleton in the basement of an old post office or bank in Dublin with a fellow Flyertalker several years ago.
Best whisky I've ever had. |

I cannot drink Jameson anymore -- we do not get along :p
However my beverage of choice these days is Jameson Black Barrel. Really smooth and reasonably priced for what it is. I started drinking it neat but now I have it in a rocks glass with just a few ice cubes. Tully Dew is a good backup IME. -J. |
At the higher end, Glendalough 17yr was fantastic
