The Best Wings Place?
I have just started going to a place called wildwings and omg they have some of the best hot wings I have ever had. I would like to know what is your favorite wings place?
WildWings is in Colorado near Fort Carson they are branching out but I think they are mainly just for colorado at the moment. |
If anyone that enjoys wings makes it to NYC with some time to kill, shoot to Westchester. There is a little hole in the wall place called Candlelight Inn, in Scarsdale on Central Ave, 10 or so tables, a bar, no CC's only cash. Amazing wings, best I've ever personally had.

And WildWings - is that akin to the chain "Buffalo WildWings"? If so, it's okay. I wouldn't put it up there next to Anchor Bar or even Candlelight. |
We recently had an entire thread devoted to Buffalo Wild Wings

At home....
Disjoint segments, discarding tips. Brine in salt water overnight (in ref) Drop in a marinade of butter milk and cheap hot sauce for at least two hours. Put a mixture of flour, garlic powder and Caceres Cajun Seasoning in a brown paper bag. Drop in a few wings, shake then... Fry in a cast iron skillet in 1" of good vegetable oil at 350F, turning often until golden brown. Better'n store-boughts. (And works well for drum sticks which are cheaper and meatier, and chicken tender "strips" which fry very quickly) The standard blue cheese dressings OK, but we prefer a thick Raeta made with finely chopped cucumber. |
There Is No "Best" Wings Place
It's a subjective judgment. Different people like different things. That's why there's a "YMMV" acronym.
There is no "best" wings place any more than there's a single "best" for any food or drink. What you want to ask or answer is "who do you think makes good/great wings?" |

http://bodybuilderspro.info/pictures...818/random.gifAnchor Bar is good. I like Duff's chicken wings better. However, in this area (Western New York), a lot of places without the "name" of those two restaurants serve great chicken wings. It's a matter of preference and almost a must to be competitive. :)

You had me until the part about the flour. No wing should ever have a flour coating. But, clearly, YMMV.
In my recipe, I'm proposing a very light breading, in a classic attempt to retain all possible moisture within the thin layer of meat on any wing, a dryness not redeemed by any amount of dipping in sauce, be it fiery or tame. Then there's the crispy, spicy exterior, about the best reasson for frying chicken, anyway. |
Durty Harry's in FLL! :D^

Ummm, gomezjan, they're called "buffalo wings" because they were invented at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo.
We also call soda "pop", not soda. :) |
Pok Pok Thai in Portland, OR
Ike's Vietnamese Fish Sauce Wings (world's best)^^^^^ Fresh natural chicken wings marinated in fish sauce, garlic and sugar, deep fried, tossed in caramelized Phu Quoc fish sauce and garlic and served with Vietnamese table salad. Our daytime grill cook Ich Truong’s recipe from his home in Vietnam. |
There are likely tens of thousands of places that serve chicken wings. There's really no way to answer that question.

Landlubbers in Plantation FL, no breading!

Tark's. Dania Beach FL.

In the Phoenix Area I like Long Wongs. They have locations in Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe, Scottsdale etc. and are very hole-in-the-wall style:
http://www.longwongstempe.com/ In Cleveland I went here once and really liked it. The one downtown had a 45 cent wing night that was quite fun to expense: http://winkinglizard.com/data/content/ |
My vote goes for the original Quaker Steak & Lube in Sharon, PA... they've got some good stuff over there-- the Golden Garlic is one of my faves.

as a guy born in buffalo, wings are only good in buffalo. anyone who says that the best is somewhere other than duffs or anchor bar, has not had them at duffs or anchor bar.
also, if you end up in buffalo's airport, and have the wings at the anchorbar in the airport, please note those wings are not representative of the area. Shangri-la, thanks for representing WNY in your earlier post. :-) |
Anchor Bar!
Wild Wings suck! Tiny Tiny wings.
If you want the real deal you have to go to Buffalo and go to the Anchor Bar. They are the best |
If you are ever in London, Ontario, the Oar House. At least, they were 11 years ago the last time I had them, but I am sure they are still decent.
If anyone knows of a decent place to get Buffalo wings in the other London (England), do let me know. |
